The About.

It started back in November 2009 with the tagline, “An Aggregate of the Curious”. Today, Apples & VCRs still follows that dictum. Plus more. Neat, right?

We’re a group of bloggers who enjoy interesting things. We occupy a grey area between the hipstersphere and pop culture.

Anyway, here’s a mission statement of sorts:
Apples & VCRs is a daily blog covering the latest in art, design and music as well as features from our contributors. From our office in Ithaca, New York, we strive to wade through the blogosphere and bring our readers strictly the bees knees in internet culture. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Dave Lanning (Contact)
The first one. Originally from Westerly, Rhode Island, Dave now spends most of his time in Ithaca, NY where he’s an undergrad at Cornell University studying Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Dave enjoys string quartets, Judge Judy, and lively discussions on the fundamentals of an agrarian based socioeconomic society. No wait- that’s someone else.

John Lombard (Contact)
The man who eats everything with chopsticks. Everything. A native of Watertown, Connecticut, John now spends most of his time in Ithaca, New York where he is an undergrad at Cornell University studying both Physics and Mechanical Engineering. He’s also a photographer and a fan of this peculiar beverage. The picture you see here was taken shortly after John won the Ithaca Chili Cookoff Fake Mustache competition.

Claire Matthews (Contact)
Representing the West Coast is Santa Clara undergrad Claire Matthews. A native of Connecticut, Claire is currently based in San Francisco. At one point back in time, both Claire and Dave worked at the same coffee shop. Claire’s father (“Mocha” Jeff Matthews) bears an uncanny resemblance to Stephen Colbert. Which has nothing to do with her blogging, but still worth noting.

The blogger who was born closest to the Canadian border. A native of Proctor, Vermont (Population: a whopping 2,000) Claire now spends most of her time in Ithaca, New York where she’s an undergrad at Cornell University studying Mechanical Engineering. Fun Fact: Claire once worked at a Ben & Jerry’s where she served the public this unholy abomination. For shame. For shame.

Lucio Leone (Contact)
Lucio Leone’s a downstate New York guy living in the upstate, as a Communications undergrad at Cornell. Word has it, Lucio is eternally known as “that guy.” Fun Fact: Lucio has been trained in the basics of fencing. Watch out if you cross his path. Radio-staffer, Lighthouses Rule author, and chili fan alike, he covers music and miscellaneous for Apples and VCRs.

The Bennington undergrad who’s currently on sabbatical in New York City pursuing an intern gig. A native of Hope Valley, Rhode Island, Emma is currently stationed in Willamsburg, Brooklyn. From her Facebook page: “I am much much smarter than a baby.” Well put Emma. Well put.
